About Okanagan Lake Beach, British Columbia, Canada

Okanagan Lake Beach is located at the head of spectacular Okanagan Lake in the city of Penticton. It is perfectly situated along Lakeshore Drive which is one of the Okanagan Valley’s premier vacation spots and it features many beaches and parks as well as resorts, hotels, restaurants, cafes, and shops.

The beach itself features a kilometer of gorgeous sandy beach overlooking Okanagan Lake and its surrounding desert hills and mountains. It has a swimming area, floating docks, children’s slides, shade trees, wheelchair-access ramps, public fire pits, washrooms, and free parking. At the end of the beach is the S.S. Sicamous Museum and Heritage Park, which is a large paddlewheel ferry boat that used to carry passengers up and down Okanagan Lake. Another nearby attraction that the kids might enjoy is the super fun inflatable water park, which allows them to bounce around on the water and climb the obstacle course.

Okanagan Lake Beach is a great place to have a day at the lake and enjoy a family picnic or do some swimming, kayaking, or SUP paddleboarding. Another neat option is to visit one of the many nearby world-class wineries that the Okanagan Valley boasts and grab a bottle and bring it down to the beach for an afternoon drink. Now you making be thinking “but isn’t that illegal in Canada?” and the answer would generally be “Yes!” but recently the city of Penticton decided to go against the grain and legalize public drinking on beaches, which is actually pretty cool. Yay Penticton!

Beachcomber Bay Beach is a brand new beach access point that is situated on the outskirts of the city of Vernon, British Columbia. The park sits on the shores of Okanagan Lake just off of scenic Tronson Road heading towards Adventure Bay. It offers beachgoers a gorgeous spot to relax and enjoy the beautiful lake and mountain scenery and the peaceful lapping of the waves. The park features a small beach with a combination of sand and rock, as well as a nice park bench. There are currently no washrooms or outhouses at Beachcomber Bay Beach.

Mint Beach is a small park and beach that is situated on lovely Kalamalka Lake, British Columbia. This ideally located beach lies on Westkal Road in the Coldstream area of the city of Vernon. This beach park undeveloped and has nothing in terms of amenities aside from two parking spaces, a trash can. It has a small sandy area that is perfect for taking a swim in the crystal clear waters of Kalamalka Lake. There are a couple of chairs that were brought there by some locals that provide an excellent spot for hanging out at the lake. Keep in mind there aren’t any kind of washrooms at Mint Beach.

Lakeshore Road in Kelowna, British Columbia is abundant in beautiful beaches and Hobson Beach park is surely one of them. This Okanagan park is mostly undeveloped but does have some picnic tables and colorful Adirondack chairs for lounging. The beach is not only great for family picnics but provides a great place for swimming, floating, kayaking and is part of the Kelowna Paddle Trail. The trail is a 27 km shoreline paddle that features 20 beaches and parks, 3 lakefront resorts, and 2 bird sanctuaries.

Jameson Beach is a small undeveloped piece of beachfront land in Coldstream, British Columbia that is open for public use. The beach is located on the edge of spectacular Kalamalka Lake on Westkal Road, which is technically considered the greater Vernon area. The park has nothing in terms of amenities aside from two parking spaces, and a trash can. It features a sandy little beach area that is perfect for family picnics and makes for a great place to cool off go swimming in the crystal clear waters of Kalamalka Lake.
