About Oyama Lake
Oyama Lake is situated in the highland alpine of the beautiful Okanagan Valley, British Columbia. It is an 800-acre lake with a geologic history of volcanic origins. The lake has excellent fishing opportunities and is stocked with tasty rainbow trout, 15,000-30,000 per year, to be exact. Oyama Lake is very tranquil which makes it the perfect place for kayaking paddle boarding, and canoeing. There are a few hiking trails to choose from as well as 27 islands giving visitors plenty to explore. The lake’s deepest section reaches a depth of 87 feet and is one of the lake’s fishing hotspots. Unlike some of the swampier lakes of Okanagan’s alpine, Oyama Lake is a great place for the whole family to enjoy a nice swim.
The lake is surrounded by dense wilderness areas and numerous other lakes with ample exploration to be had. One of the valley’s most epic hikes the Okanagan High Rim Trail passes right by Oyama Lake which gives hikers the perfect opportunity to take a dip and wash off the sweat after a long hike. You can also start your hike here as there is a parking lot and signage that mark the trail.
