About Salmon Arm Wharf (Marine Peace Park)

The Salmon Arm Wharf is one of the Shuswap region’s most popular attractions. This large 440-foot pier is situated on beautiful Shuswap Lake and actually holds, not only the title of ‘Largest Wooden Wharf in British Columbia and Canada’ but holds the title of ‘Largest Wooden Wharf in North America’.

The Salmon Arm Wharf was constructed in 1907, now over 100 years ago in order to deal with the large mudflats and swampy areas that exist at the head of Shuswap Lake. This allowed for steam-powered paddlewheel boats to transport people and products from the town of Salmon Arm to other villages in the region.

Nowadays the wharf is still used for boat moorage but also serves as a tourist attraction where visitors can take a peaceful stroll and see the area’s beauty along with some of the bird wildlife that is abundant at this part of the lake.

The wharf features a boat launch, a cafe, ample parking, a pavilion, picnic tables, walking trails, washrooms, and a stage for live performances. The entrance to the pier also boasts the Wharf and Marine Peace Park which has lovely landscaping and gardens.
