Papago is a fairly large park located in Phoenix, Arizona, USA. Coming in at 1496 acres and has a plethora of different hiking trails that take you through beautiful desert landscapes littered with many unique species of cacti, including the famous saguaro. The saguaro cactus is an iconic piece of Arizona and is pretty much synonymous with the state. Within the park is also a Desert Botanical Garden, The Phoenix Zoo, a museum, and Hunt’s Tomb. The tomb is essentially a pyramid containing the body of George W.P. Hunt (Arizona's 1st governor) along with the bodies of his family.

History
Papago Park is a place that is steeped in a rich historic past dating back thousands of years back to the Hohokam civilization. There are several small oasis lakes stocked with plenty of different kinds of fish. The oasis was created using canals that were originally dug by the Hohokam. At Hole-in-the-Rock the Hohokam once used the hole to record the position of the sun in order to track the changing seasons.

Not only does the park have awesome hiking, but visitors can also experience the park by driving through.
Probably the biggest attraction within Papago Park is the Hole-in the Rock. After a short hike up to the hole, you are treated to spectacular views of the park that overlooks the desert below.
The oasis’ contains many different kinds of animals including birds, ducks, fish, frogs, and turtles, and is the lifeblood water source for the creatures who inhabit the area. The ponds are fully stocked for the public to fish as they please with trout, large-mouth bass, sunfish, catfish, tilapia, and carp.
