Cali is a multi-cultured melting pot with many different faces and ways of life. You will have the chance to dine on any cuisine imaginable, it's literally a foodie’s dream come true. Also, a hiker's paradise, providing more than enough trails along rugged coastlines and through beautiful mountain landscapes, and taking a car up the Pacific Coast Highway is an unforgettable drive that everybody should experience. Don’t miss a chance to head east over to one of mother nature’s true wonders, Sequoia National Park where you will be able to visit some of the world’s tallest trees.

Palm Springs
Palm Springs is an amazing little city with a vibrant lifestyle, famous for the celebrities that flocked here starting in the 1930s, and to this day it remains a popular tourist destination. The population swells during the winter months and then shrinks in the summer due to incredibly hot temperatures. An ancient seabed makes the Coachella Valley flat and sandy, but gigantic mountain ranges like San Jacinto make for some picturesque scenery. I suggest taking the Aerial Tramway up to the top of San Jacinto Peak to see sprawling views of the entire valley and all the way to The Salton Sea.
Though Palm Springs is located in the desert there are several oases in the surrounding area, these beautiful spots are great hiking areas. Indian Canyons in the Agua Caliente Reservation charge $20 to enter but are well worth the money. Another oasis that can be visited for free is The Coachella Valley Preserve in Thousand Palms. You'll be amazed by these desert sanctuaries that contain plenty of wildlife to spot including a rare species of fish called The Desert Pupfish as well as the Fringe Toed Lizard. Palm Springs' scenery never ceases to amaze me and the weather is always sunny, which makes this one of my favorite places to visit.

Looking out at the vast ocean while standing on top of partially eroded cliffs will give you a sense of how insignificant and small you actually are in this world. Mild temperatures and a chilled-out vibe make Malibu a much sought-after place. Being very popular among the rich and famous can make real estate in the area seem mostly unattainable for the average person. Malibu provides plenty of National Parks all along the coastline, like Leo Carillo State Park which has ample camping services and places to have beach picnics with the family.

As you walk through the narrow alleyways and hidden garden courtyards you can picture life as it was hundreds of years ago. Taking a tour of Mission Santa Barbara, which was built in 1786 is an eye-opener if you enjoy history like me and is definitely worth a visit.
Shopping is a big deal in Santa Barbara, but as with many touristy places, things are pretty pricey.
Stearn's Wharf is another popular spot in Santa Barbara, a long pier with many shops and restaurants serving mostly seafood. The wharf itself is surrounded by beautiful white sand beaches and an interesting artist’s market called The Santa Barbara Arts and Crafts Show.

Described as "a village in a forest overlooking a white sand beach", which is actually written in the town’s plan, gives you an idea of the kind of atmosphere in Carmel. Unique laws give rights to the trees of the surrounding forest and any building must be built around existing trees as well as any property not containing enough trees must be planted with new ones. A fairy-tale type architectural theme remains throughout the village and wandering the streets of this place is a real treat. Head on down to the beach and enjoy some of the whitest sand you'll ever see at Carmel Beach.
