Mirador Guadalupe is a hiking trail that is located in the Pueblos Magicos town of Mascota in the state of Jalisco, Mexico. The viewpoint is situated around halfway up a small mountain that overlooks Mascota and provides panoramic views of the area.
After only 10-15 minutes you will reach the Mirador Guadalupe and find the rustic little red brick church that calls the hillside home. The church is called Capilla de la Virgen de Guadalupe and appears to be out of service nowadays. Its history is unclear or at least not written anywhere around the structure. On the church’s grounds, there are some neat artifacts to check out, like the large round stone with a square cut out of the center, which again is a mystery, or is at least a mystery to visitors who don’t know the real history.
After exploring the grounds you can choose to continue on the trail for another 20 minutes and walk up the arduous 464 step staircase to the Mirador de la Cruz. This mirador has even greater views of Mascota and features a large white cross on the summit, which has an elevation of 1,345 m / 4,412 ft. The total journey for both miradors takes about an hour and is 0.75 miles uphill.
