Rocky Ridge Park, Vernon
About Rocky Ridge Park, Vernon, British Columbia
Rocky Ridge Park is a small park and hiking area located on Turtle Mountain in beautiful Vernon, British Columbia, and is the perfect example of the Okanagan Valley’s arid desert-like environment. It provides sweeping 360 views and is perhaps the most complete view of the city of Vernon and that includes a view of Okanagan Lake looking out over Kin Beach and Adventure Bay.
The trail is hot and dry with full sun exposure and is devoid of any trees other than prickly pear cactus’ which makes it seem more like it belongs in Arizona rather than BC. It is a small park and the trail is not long, but for a more lengthy hike connect with the nearby Grey Canal Trail which is another popular and highly recommended hiking trail in Vernon.
Rocky Ridge Trail is gorgeous and is a great place to take in the Okanagan views but prickly pear cacti are nasty and can easily end up embedded in your skin and footwear so it’s not recommended to bring small children or dogs to this park.
