6 Romantic Date Ideas for Couples Visiting Annapolis
Annapolis is the perfect romantic haven for couples seeking a blend of history, charm, and beauty. With its cobblestone streets, picturesque waterfront, and timeless architecture, this historic town offers countless opportunities to connect and create unforgettable memories.
Rich in history and romance, there’s no better place to spend a weekend together. Here are six date ideas for couples visiting Annapolis, whether it’s your first time or not.
1. Stroll Along the Waterfront
You can’t miss taking a simple stroll along the quaint, charming Annapolis waterfront, especially at sunset. This part of Annapolis will take you 300 years back in time, as many of the buildings from that era remain in place.
You’ll find everything in this district, including restaurants, pubs, specialty shops, art galleries, music venues, and more. Start at Main Street and walk down the hill to City Dock, where you can enjoy a beer or two while watching the boats as the sun sets on the harbor.
2. Visit One of Annapolis’s Charming Cafés
Annapolis, as you may expect, is full of charming, quaint cafés where you can enjoy a cup of hot coffee or tea and watch the world go by. My favorite is Brown Mustache Coffee, a bookstore-slash-café with a soothing vibe and an adorable backyard garden.
Another one of my favorites is Bitty & Beau's Coffee, a quirky little coffee shop in the historic district that is staffed by people with disabilities.
49 West Coffee is a great date idea at any time of the day, not just in the morning. It's a stylish café with decor inspired by European coffee shops. It’s also a wine bar and art gallery, serving American cuisine for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
3. Go on a Haunted Pub Crawl or Ghost Tour
If you want to experience a different, darker side of Annapolis, go on an Annapolis ghost tour! If your nerves need a bit of calming, opt for a haunted pub crawl so you can sip on some liquid courage while you enjoy a night of spirits and spirits.
You’ll visit local legends such as the Middleton Tavern, the haunted Maryland Inn, and the James Brice House. The number of historic buildings with strange, twisted histories and covered-up stories is endless. Besides, it’s a great way to meet new people if you want to make friends!
4. Enjoy a Romantic Candlelit Dinner
Annapolis also has a decent amount of romantic places with just the right ambiance for a romantic dinner.
Chart House Prime has a lovely atmosphere. Right on the waterfront, it offers some of the best views in town, combined with the best seafood and steaks in the city. The crab dip (with toasted sourdough bread) and chocolate lava cake are personal recommendations of mine.
Severn Inn, with its views of the Severn River, is another great place to go for seafood. Meanwhile, Lewnes’ Steakhouse has some of the best oysters and shrimp in Annapolis, but it doesn’t have a waterfront view, although it does have cute retro booths. Instead, you can make a reservation for a seat with a window to the wine cellar, which is also pretty cool.
5. Spend a Day at Quiet Waters Park
Quiet Waters Park is a beautiful, peaceful, 300-acre park just outside Annapolis. If you’re dog parents, you’ll love the dog beach. If beaches aren’t really your thing, there’s also a beautiful dog park.
If you don’t have a dog, why not rent a kayak or canoe (or launch your own from the dock)? A peaceful kayak ride is a great way to relax from the grind of everyday life and immerse yourself in nature.
Six miles of paved trails are available if you prefer to take a relaxing walk or go running. You can also stop in one of the picnic areas for an afternoon picnic.
If you have kids, there is a playground that offers plenty of fun for children of all ages.
6. Sail Into the Sunset on the Bay
Plenty of companies offer cruises and water taxis on Annapolis’s Bay. Watermark offers both regular cruises and cruises for special events and holidays. You can take a Baltimore sightseeing tour or a cruise to the magnificent Thomas Point Lighthouse.
For a memorable experience, hop on one of the 74-foot Woodwind schooner cruise tours. There are also beginner sailing courses from J World Annapolis if you would like to learn a new skill.
